I love the detail added to the last image- painting the back of the shelves a different color is a great way to add more style to the space and help to bring in an accessory color. It also allows the items on the shelves to pop against the different color. I also love the idea of adding a mirror or artwork somewhere on or inside the shelves. It's a creative way to add some different elements to the mix! I have also loved using the shelf space for extra pillows. There are so many gorgeous pillow fabrics out there that look like a piece of art. Why not display them where all can see! And here is my interpretation of shelf styling- these shelves are in our guest room. After some editing, here is where we are now-

Love these arranged book shelves. I like to integrate books in various stacks with some photos, beautiful ceramic vases, and interesting book ends. What are we going to do when one day there will be no actual books?!
I love looking at photos of beautiful bookcases but I love them even more when they look like they're used - i.e. there's books around that can be pulled out and read! Beautiful inspiration.

I love shelf styling too. It's always fun to play around with them. I love tiaras and crowns so I always display a bunch of them on mine. Great inspo!

Great inspirations. I think the key to styling a beautiful bookshelf is to have various interesting objects of different heights, texture and shapes for an interesting mix!

I like to put "treasures" on my shelves--but it's hard for me to edit them. Love the photos. Maybe I'll paint the back of my bookcases dark gray. ummm
I have a little bit of everything on our built in shelves. I don't think I have them styled quite right though...I've been thinking about painting the back a different color than the walls.

I'm hopeless when it comes to styling my shelves. I like the way you hung a few items directly on the wall for added interest.
I simply love the use of ladders.. at home.. I've always wanted one. but simply haven't found the precise space. :-)
